Comprehensive Furnace Maintenance in Venice
Our full-system inspection that we perform during heating maintenance lets us find and fix hidden problems. For example, on a gas furnace, the gas valve controls the flow of natural gas to the burners. Both contamination from dust and debris and surges from electrical faults can damage the valve. Working on a gas furnace is particularly dangerous because of the risk of gas leaks. If we have to replace this part, we’ll start by shutting off the gas line and disconnecting the old valve and wiring. Next, we install the new valve and test it to make sure it opens and closes safely without leaks.
The blower motor has a capacitor connected to it that stores and delivers an electrical charge. This part usually lasts about 5 to 10 years. When it goes bad, you might notice hard starting, weak airflow, or humming noises. Replacing the capacitor during maintenance is very simple. We disconnect the power, discharge the old capacitor, and install a new one that matches the correct voltage and microfarad rating.
Many high-efficiency furnaces have a condensate pump, which collects and removes moisture produced during the heating process. Although this feature can save money on energy costs, it can also lead to water leaks or system shutdowns if you don’t keep the pump clean and clear of debris. During furnace maintenance in Venice, we’ll inspect and flush the condensate pump to make sure it drains properly.
