Check if Your Heating Is Still an Energy-Efficient Option
You don’t have to sacrifice comfort just to save money on energy bills. But if your heating system’s age has already exceeded its expected service life (20 years for a furnace and 10 years for a heat pump), it’s high time to consider a replacement.
At Reliance Air Services, we provide top-quality heating repair in St. Petersburg, FL, and so much more. We can help you check if your heating system offers optimal energy efficiency, and we can install new heating equipment that meets–or even exceeds–current energy efficiency standards.
Determine the Furnace AFUE Rating
Annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) measures furnace efficiency. Routine heating maintenance keeps your furnace operating as efficiently as possible. If your furnace’s AFUE is less than 97%, consider replacing it. Furnaces with an AFUE exceeding 97% and with Energy Star certification qualify for tax rebates.
Verify Heat Pump HSPF
HSPF, or heating season performance factor, measures the heat pump’s heating efficiency. If your heating system’s HSPF exceeds 9.5, it meets current efficiency standards. If it’s lower than 9.5, consider our heating services for a replacement.
Check Out the Federal Tax Rebates for New Heating Systems
If your heat pump or furnace requires replacement because of poor efficiency or a major component failure, consider replacing it. Last year, the IRS extended its tax rebate incentive under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 for an additional 10 years. If you have our team perform a heating installation with an Energy Star-certified air-source heat pump, you could get a $300 federal tax rebate. Qualifying gas or oil furnaces yield a $150 tax rebate. If you choose a geothermal heat pump with an HSPF greater than or equal to 9.5, you could receive up to a $2,000 tax rebate.
