21-Point Tune-Ups

HVAC Preventive Maintenance Fewer Breakdowns, Steadier Bills

Regular HVAC preventive maintenance keeps a Florida air conditioner cooling, draining and running efficiently through a season that barely ends. Reliance offers one-time tune-ups and membership plans built around that schedule.

The Florida Factor

Why Preventive Maintenance Matters More on the Gulf Coast

National advice often says to service your air conditioner once a year. Southwest Florida systems carry a cooling load for most months, sit outdoors in salt and humidity, and drain gallons of condensate on a muggy day. That workload is why seasonal HVAC service here pays off faster than it does up north.

A tune-up catches the slow-moving problems: a capacitor losing strength, a drain line beginning to clog, a coil caked with dust and pollen, an electrical connection working loose. Fixed early, those are small jobs. Ignored, they tend to fail on the hottest afternoon of the year, when every contractor in town is booked.

Between visits, a few habits help: change the filter on schedule, keep shrubs and mulch a couple of feet back from the outdoor unit, and pour a little water through the drain access if your technician showed you how. If the system starts acting strangely, our guides on water leaking from the AC and a freezing coil explain what to look for.

One-Time Tune-Up or a Maintenance Plan?

If you only want a single visit before summer, book an AC tune-up and we will run the full 21-point inspection. Current tune-up pricing is posted on our specials page.

Most households, though, are better served by an AC maintenance plan in Florida that schedules the work for them. The Reliance Air Club bundles tune-ups with repair discounts, priority scheduling and filter delivery, so maintenance happens without anyone having to remember it. New members get the first month free, there is no setup fee, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice.

Maintenance also protects equipment you just bought. Many manufacturers expect documented professional service, and a record of regular visits helps if a warranty claim ever comes up.

A Year of Seasonal HVAC Service

  1. Spring cooling check

Before the heavy season, we clean, test and tune the system so it starts summer at full strength.

  2. Filters through summer

Fresh filters keep airflow strong and the coil clean. Club members have them delivered.

  3. Fall follow-up

A second visit clears the drain again, checks parts that worked hard all summer and tests heat mode.

  4. Repairs caught early

Anything worn gets flagged with a written price, so you decide on your schedule rather than in an emergency.

Maintenance for the Rest of Your Comfort System

A tune-up focuses on the air conditioner itself. These related services keep everything around it healthy.

Ductwork

Disconnected or leaking ducts in a hot attic waste cooling you already paid for. We inspect them during visits and can seal, clean or replace sections.

Common Questions

HVAC Preventive Maintenance — FAQs

How often should an AC be serviced in Florida?

Twice a year is a sensible schedule here: once in spring before the long cooling season, and again in fall after the system has worked hard all summer. Homes near the beach, homes with pets and systems that run nearly year-round benefit most from the second visit. Our Comfort and Comfort+ plans include both tune-ups.

What happens if the technician finds a problem?

We note it on your service report, explain what we saw and give you a written flat-rate price for the fix. Nothing is repaired without your approval. Small items, like a clogged drain, are usually cleared during the tune-up itself. Club members receive their plan's repair discount on any work they choose to schedule.

Is a maintenance plan worth the monthly cost?

For most households, yes. The plan covers the tune-ups you should be getting anyway, then adds a repair discount, faster dispatch and free filters. If a single repair happens during the year, the discount and waived after-hours fees often offset a good share of the membership. Our blog covers the math in more detail.

What is the difference between maintenance and a warranty?

A manufacturer warranty pays for covered parts after something breaks. Maintenance aims to keep it from breaking in the first place. The two work together, since many manufacturers expect the system to be professionally maintained, and service records make it easier to support a claim.

Can I cancel my Reliance Air Club membership?

Yes. There is no setup fee and no long-term contract. You can cancel with 30 days' notice by calling our office. Comfort and Comfort+ memberships can also transfer to the next owner if you sell your home, which can be a small selling point.

Does maintenance help with my electric bill?

It can. A dirty condenser coil, clogged filter or weak capacitor forces the system to run longer to deliver the same cooling. Cleaning and correcting those issues restores efficiency that was slowly lost. If bills stay high after a tune-up, ductwork leaks or an aging unit may be the cause.
